Symptoms of Insomnia 

Insomnia is a potent psychological stressor and thus stimulates cortisol resulting in both high insulin levels and insulin resistance. Cortisol raises blood sugar and activates the sympathetic nervous system. Insomnia causes increased cortisol levels and sympathetic tone.
